For 90 minutes only, the runway is open to you.
The North Otago Aero Club invites you to experience something few people ever get to do — walk, run, and explore an airport runway normally reserved for aircraft.
On Sunday 21st of June, we are closing Oamaru Airport — one of New Zealand’s busiest airports — and opening the airside gates for a unique community fundraiser.
Whether you're a runner, walker, aviation enthusiast, family group, or just curious about flight, Run the Runway is an unforgettable winter event.
Run the Runway is a one-of-a-kind fundraiser where participants can:
Walk or run the airport runways
Explore normally restricted airside areas
Meet local pilots and aviation enthusiasts
Get up close to aircraft on display
Learn how flying lessons work
Discover pathways into aviation careers and recreation
No racing pressure. No timing chips.
Just fresh winter air, wide open space, and a runway beneath your feet.
